Freezing Weather and Hot Cocoa

Real January weather is finally here.  Even Florida is getting a taste of it.

Today I’m sharing my favorite hot cocoa recipe.  This is the classic Hershey’s recipe and a favorite of many.  I like to make mine with coconut milk since regular milk hates me.    Add your favorite finishes…marshmallows, whipped cream, a star mint or left over candy canes, caramel, cinnamon, cookies for dunking…bundle up and enjoy!

What is your favorite finish for your hot cocoa? Mine would be candy canes or star mints.

Goodbye 2019! Hello 2020!

scarf2020sq

Can you believe we have 2020 in our sight?  What a year it has been.  This year has been a steep roller coaster.  My family has had great big highs (like my son getting engaged) and great lows (getting rear ended by a semi).  2019 has certainly reminded me how blessed I am.  As we all step together into the coming year, I wish you all a very happy and healthy 2020!  Happy New Year!

Until next year, stay inspired and be crafty!

Six More Days and Six Favorites

Hard to believe Christmas is less than a week away.  With everything that has been going on (mainly from our car crash) things have been a bit more laid back.  Decorations are minimal.  Baking has been minimal.  Shopping has been minimal.  It isn’t how I planned to celebrate Christmas, but by God’s grace I am so blessed to be here to celebrate.

Since there are six days left until Christmas I thought I would share six Christmas favorites.  Topic?  Movies.

There are sooo many Christmas movies out now and I think Hallmark is running away with the lead.  I am dating myself…but when I was a child Christmas movies were an event!  There were a handful that came on every year and we were so excited when we saw them listed in the TV Guide.  We made popcorn, hot cocoa, and gathered our jammie-clad selves around the TV to watch…commercials and all.

Watching Christmas movies are a bit different today.  Not nearly as special and enchanting.  It’s a lot more work to make watching Christmas movies as exciting family event to look forward to.

While there are some great newer Christmas movies out there, my list of favorites are mostly tied to my childhood memories and the sentimental feelings they give.

In no particular order:

1 – It’s A Wonderful Life. First of all, I LOVE Jimmy Stewart.  It makes me cry EVERY time I watch it.

2 – White Christmas. I love musicals. It’s not Christmas without Bing Crosby singing White Christmas.

3 – The Santa Clause.  I love Tim Allen’s version of Santa.  One of the first Christmas movies hubby and I watched together.

4 – A Christmas Carol. I’ll take either Alastair Sim or George C. Scott.  Side note, I played Tiny Tim in our high school version of A Christmas Carol.  Yep.

5 – A Charlie Brown Christmas. Period.

6 – How the Grinch Stole Christmas!  Boris Karloff’s voice.  It’s perfect.

These are just six, I could have listed 20+.  What are your favorite Christmas movies?  Leave a comment below and let me know what yours are!  Then get your jammies on, grab your popcorn, and snuggle up and make it a Christmas movie event!
