How many times has your skein of yarn knotted up on you while you worked? How many times have you chased a ball of yarn you were using? Problem solved: a yarn bowl!
It isn’t a bowl made of yarn (although those are fun to make), it is a bowl designed to hold a ball or skein of yarn while you crochet and has a creative little cut out to keep your yarn from tangling. Some are made of pottery, some are made of wood. Some are humorous and some are just beautiful. Some even have extra holes to poke your knitting needles in when you aren’t working. There are so many to choose from, you are sure to find one you will love.
In the mean time, you can use common items you have in your home as yarn bowls. All it needs is a secure place for your yarn and a hole to thread your yarn through. Thrifyfun.com has a hack using a binder clip and a bowl. Clever, huh?
But wait! There’s more!
A collander makes a great yarn bowl! Pop your yarn inside and thread it through one of the many holes. You can recycle an empty baby wipe box into a yarn bowl, use a plastic ice cream bucket with a hole in the lid, a large teapot, and yes…you could even crochet or knit your own!

Until next time, stay inspired and be crafy!
