Freezing Weather and Hot Cocoa

Real January weather is finally here.  Even Florida is getting a taste of it.

Today I’m sharing my favorite hot cocoa recipe.  This is the classic Hershey’s recipe and a favorite of many.  I like to make mine with coconut milk since regular milk hates me.    Add your favorite finishes…marshmallows, whipped cream, a star mint or left over candy canes, caramel, cinnamon, cookies for dunking…bundle up and enjoy!

What is your favorite finish for your hot cocoa? Mine would be candy canes or star mints.

Six More Days and Six Favorites

Hard to believe Christmas is less than a week away.  With everything that has been going on (mainly from our car crash) things have been a bit more laid back.  Decorations are minimal.  Baking has been minimal.  Shopping has been minimal.  It isn’t how I planned to celebrate Christmas, but by God’s grace I am so blessed to be here to celebrate.

Since there are six days left until Christmas I thought I would share six Christmas favorites.  Topic?  Movies.

bing

There are sooo many Christmas movies out now and I think Hallmark is running away with the lead.  I am dating myself…but when I was a child Christmas movies were an event!  There were a handful that came on every year and we were so excited when we saw them listed in the TV Guide.  We made popcorn, hot cocoa, and gathered our jammie-clad selves around the TV to watch…commercials and all.

Watching Christmas movies are a bit different today.  Not nearly as special and enchanting.  It’s a lot more work to make watching Christmas movies as exciting family event to look forward to.

While there are some great newer Christmas movies out there, my list of favorites are mostly tied to my childhood memories and the sentimental feelings they give.

In no particular order:

1 – It’s A Wonderful Life. First of all, I LOVE Jimmy Stewart.  It makes me cry EVERY time I watch it.

2 – White Christmas. I love musicals. It’s not Christmas without Bing Crosby singing White Christmas.

3 – The Santa Clause.  I love Tim Allen’s version of Santa.  One of the first Christmas movies hubby and I watched together.

4 – A Christmas Carol. I’ll take either Alastair Sim or George C. Scott.  Side note, I played Tiny Tim in our high school version of A Christmas Carol.  Yep.

5 – A Charlie Brown Christmas. Period.

6 – How the Grinch Stole Christmas!  Boris Karloff’s voice.  It’s perfect.

These are just six, I could have listed 20+.  What are your favorite Christmas movies?  Leave a comment below and let me know what yours are!  Then get your jammies on, grab your popcorn, and snuggle up and make it a Christmas movie event!

#ThrowBackThursday

Once upon a time, a girl with a crochet hook and a dream started a business.  Then the internet came along and that business jumped online.

I was doing some decluttering on my computer and I came across some old pictures from the beginning of my online journey.  I found one of my original logos, and a couple original product pictures.  How sad those product pictures are!  Hahaha!

I started with a blog over on the Blogger platform, and then started selling on Ebay.  That is back when Paypal was just becoming popular and actually took checks for orders.  I didn’t get started on Etsy until around 2010.

My how things have changed!  It’s fun to look back at this.  Do you have a Throwback Thursday post?  I’d love to check it out!  Leave a comment below with your Throwback story, or link to your Throwback post.

The Sun! The Sun!!

Hooks

FINALLY getting some dry weather.  I’m getting outside to tackle yard work that has been neglected because of all the rain. Can’t sell the house with an ugly yard, right? Plus I just love playing in the dirt gardening.  What are you up to today?  Let me know!

Until next time, stay inspired and be crafty!

Happy Mother’s Day

Happy Mother’s Day weekend to all who are celebrating!  Wishing my mom a Happy Mother’s Day in heaven.  This is the last picture I took of her celebrating her last birthday.  It’s been ten years since she left us and she is missed.

Mom

I will be enjoying Mother’s Day with my handsome baby boy.

Living among the Amish we get to enjoy all their spring farm babies too!

What’s your favorite memory of your mom, or being a mom?  My mom was one of my creative influences… it’s her passion for crochet that got mine started.

Until next time, stay inspired and be crafty!
