Monday Inspiration – World’s Largest Afghan

Afghans take a lot of time to crochet especially if it is for a king size bed (who’s idea was it to get a king size bed anyway??? I think we’re going to downsize!!)  So imagine getting more than 1,800 woman together to create the world’s largest afghan?  THAT is inspiring!

The project was coordinated by Subashri Natarajan, and participants were all women from 13 different countries aged eight to 85.  According to Guinness most of the 8,034 pieces were 40 x 40 (I’m guessing inches?) and all together measured over 120,001 ft² (11,148.5 m².)  When unassembled the individual afghans were donated to the needy in India where the record afghan was constructed.

You can read more at the Guinness World Records site HERE.

That is all for today. I’d love to hear what has you inspired to make something this week. Just leave a comment or even share a link below. Your inspiration could end up in a future post!

Until next time, stay inspired and be crafy!
